Installing Renamer.ai

Getting Started

Renamer.ai is a desktop app for Mac and Windows. This guide covers getting it onto your computer and opening it the first time. The whole thing takes a minute or two, and the app keeps itself updated afterwards.

Download

Head to the Download page on renamer.ai. It detects your system and starts the right download automatically - just watch your browser's download bar.

  • On a Mac you get a .dmg. Apple Silicon (M-series) is the default. On an older Intel Mac, use the Get Intel-Based version link instead.
  • On Windows you get renamer.ai-setup.exe (64-bit).

Renamer.ai runs on macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel) and 64-bit Windows. There's no Linux build.

Install

On a Mac

  1. Double-click the downloaded .dmg.
  2. Drag Renamer.ai into your Applications folder.
  3. Open it from Applications.

The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally - there's no "unidentified developer" warning to work around.

On Windows

Double-click renamer.ai-setup.exe, it installs and opens on its own. The installer is signed, so Windows SmartScreen won't block it.

Opening it the first time

  • Let it access your files. The first time Renamer.ai renames something, macOS may ask you to allow it to access your files or folders - allow it, so the app can do its job. That's the normal macOS prompt. You do not need to set up "Full Disk Access" or change any system settings.
  • Sign in. On the Get started screen, click Log In with browser, finish signing in on the website, and the app picks up your session automatically - no separate password to manage inside the app.

From here, Welcome to Renamer.ai gives you the guided tour, and Your first rename with Quick Rename walks through renaming your first files.

Staying up to date

You won't need to download Renamer.ai again. It checks for updates in the background and downloads them quietly. When a new version is ready you'll see an Update ready banner with a Restart Renamer button (or Hide it and restart later), and that's it. After the restart, an Updated to v… banner offers See what's new, which opens the change log so you can see what changed. The current version is always shown at the top of the user menu, next to the Change log link.
