The Only Photo Renamer That
Actually Looks at Your Photos
Every other photo renamer adds dates, sequential numbers, or prefixes to your file names. Renamer.ai uses computer vision to see what's in the image and names the file by what it shows. Batch rename thousands of photos in minutes.
THE PROBLEM
Your Photo Library Looks Like This
IMG_3847.jpgDSC_0042.jpgIMG_20250210_143022.jpgDCIM_0891.heicScreenshot 2025-02-24 at 10.32.45.pngphoto_2025_02_18.jpg_MG_4521.jpgimage(3).pngEvery one of those could be a sunset in Croatia, your daughter's birthday party, a product shot for your website, or a photo of a whiteboard from last Tuesday's meeting. The only way to know is to open each one and look.
You've tried other photo renamers. They let you add a date prefix, a sequential number, or find-and-replace text in the file name. So now instead of IMG_3847.jpg you have 2025-02-10_IMG_3847.jpg. Great - you know when. You still don't know what.
That's the gap. Every bulk rename tool rearranges characters in file names. None of them look at the actual photo.
Renamer.ai does. Computer vision analyzes what's in each image and creates a name that describes what you're looking at. Without opening a single file.

What Other Tools Produce vs. What Renamer.ai Produces
| Tool Type | IMG_3847.jpg becomes... |
|---|---|
Date prefix tool | 2025-02-10_IMG_3847.jpg |
Sequential renamer | vacation_001.jpg |
Find-and-replace | photo_3847.jpg |
Renamer.ai | golden_retriever_playing_fetch_park.jpg |
Only one of those tells you what's in the photo without opening it.

Use Cases
Who Renames Photos with Renamer.ai
Photographer Managing Shoots
You come back from a wedding shoot with 800 photos named _MG_0001.jpg through _MG_0800.jpg. Finding the ceremony shots vs. reception vs. portraits means scrolling through every thumbnail. Point Renamer.ai at the folder - each photo gets a name describing the scene: first dance, cake cutting, group portrait, venue exterior. Search “bouquet” and find every bouquet shot across every shoot you’ve ever done.
Real Estate Agent with Property Photos
Every listing needs photos - exterior, kitchen, bathrooms, backyard, garage. Your phone names them all IMG_####.jpg. After 15 listings, your photo folder has 600 identical-looking file names. With Renamer.ai, each photo describes what it shows: photo_kitchen_granite_countertops_island.jpg, photo_exterior_front_brick_ranch.jpg. Finding the right photo for the right listing takes seconds.
E-Commerce Seller with Product Shots
You photograph products for your online store. Every session produces DSC_0001.jpg through DSC_0040.jpg, and you have to manually rename each one before uploading. Batch-rename the whole shoot. Each photo gets named by what the product is: black_leather_messenger_bag_front_view.jpg, ceramic_coffee_mug_set_blue_glaze.jpg. Upload-ready names, zero manual work.
Anyone with 10 Years of Phone Photos
Your phone has backed up 12,000 photos to your computer. They’re all IMG_ something. You remember the trip to Portugal, the kids’ school play, your dog’s first snow day - but finding any specific photo means scrolling through thousands of thumbnails. Batch-process the entire library. Every photo gets a descriptive name. Now your OS search actually works: type “beach” and find every beach photo.
MAGIC FOLDERS FOR PHOTOS
New Photos Get Named the Moment They Arrive
Set your camera import folder, cloud sync directory, or Downloads as a Magic Folder. Every photo that lands there gets renamed automatically based on what's in the image.
What this looks like in practice:
You import 20 photos from your camera after a product shoot. Instead of:
DSC_0112.jpgDSC_0113.jpgDSC_0114.jpgDSC_0115.jpgYour folder now shows:
silver_watch_face_closeup_black_background.jpgsilver_watch_leather_strap_side_angle.jpgsilver_watch_on_wrist_lifestyle_shot.jpgsilver_watch_packaging_box_open.jpgNo renaming. No sorting. Every photo describes itself the moment it arrives.
SMART TEMPLATES
Standardize How Your Photos Get Named
Smart Templates let you control the naming pattern. Set it once, and every photo follows the same convention.
Template controls:
Save templates and reuse them. Every photo shoot, every camera import, every download - consistent names, automatically.
Benefits
What Changes When Photos Have Real Names
Find any photo by searching what’s in it
Type “dog” and find every photo of your dog. Type “kitchen” and find every kitchen photo. Your OS search becomes a visual search engine because file names finally describe what the image shows.
Stop scrolling through thumbnails
When file names tell you what’s in each photo, you don’t need to visually scan hundreds of tiny previews to find the one you’re looking for.
The only renamer that understands content
Date prefixes tell you when. Sequential numbers tell you nothing. Renamer.ai tells you what - which is what you actually need to know when looking for a specific photo.
Batch-rename years of accumulated photos
That folder of 12,000 IMG_ files from the last decade? Point Renamer.ai at it. Every photo gets a descriptive name based on what’s actually in the image.
Your photos stay untouched
Image quality, resolution, color profiles, metadata - everything about the file stays exactly as it was. Only the name changes.
Works with every camera and phone format
iPhone .heic, Android .jpg, DSLR .tiff, web .png and .webp - 10+ image formats supported natively.
Your Photos Should Say What's in Them
IMG_3847.jpg could be anything.
golden_retriever_playing_fetch_park.jpg tells you exactly what it is.
Rename your photos in bulk, or set up a Magic Folder and let it happen automatically from now on.
Supports .jpg, .png, .heic, .webp, .gif, .bmp, .tiff, .jxl, and 30+ other file formats including documents and spreadsheets.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Renamer.ai modify my photos?
No. Only the file name changes. Image quality, resolution, color profiles, and all file data remain completely untouched.
What image formats are supported?
.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .gif, .bmp, .tiff, .tif, .heic, and .jxl are all supported.
Does it read EXIF data (GPS, camera settings, date taken)?
No. Renamer.ai uses AI computer vision to describe what’s visible in the photo - scenes, objects, people, text. It does not extract metadata like GPS coordinates, camera model, or EXIF date. If the Eiffel Tower is in your photo, the AI recognizes it from the image - not from GPS data.
Can it read text in photos?
Yes. Whiteboards, signs, handwritten notes, documents - if there’s readable text visible in the image, the AI can incorporate it into the file name.
How is this different from other photo renamers?
Other photo renamers let you add date prefixes, sequential numbers, or find-and-replace text in existing file names. They work on the file name, not the file content. Renamer.ai uses computer vision to look at each photo and describe what it sees. The result is names like golden_retriever_playing_fetch_park.jpg instead of 2025-02-10_IMG_3847.jpg.
Does it move photos into folders?
No. Photos stay exactly where they are. Only the file name changes.
Can I customize how my photos get named?
Yes. Smart Templates let you control field order, separators, text case, and language. Create templates for different use cases - one for product photography, another for personal photos, another for property documentation.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 100MB are supported. Most photos fall well within this limit.
Does it require an internet connection?
Yes - AI computer vision processing requires an internet connection to analyze image content and generate descriptive names.
Can it handle RAW camera files?
Currently, the supported image formats are .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .gif, .bmp, .tiff, .tif, .heic, and .jxl. Standard RAW formats like .CR2 or .NEF are not supported - export to a supported format first.
